Archbishop Curley appoints Greg Loftus as its new Athletic Director
Loftus is a graduate of Curley's class of 1995 and a member of the school's athletic hall of fame
Archbishop Curley High School has announced the appointment of Greg Loftus as its new athletic director.
Loftus, a 1995 graduate of Curley, lettered in four sports – soccer, basketball, tennis and baseball - during his time as a Curley student-athlete and excelled in all four. He was best know for his exploits as a soccer player where he was a three-year varsity starter and a member of the Friars' 1993 MIAA A Conference championship team. He won numerous individual honors, including All-Metro and All-State. He also started for two seasons on the varsity basketball team, won a pair of MIAA B Conference singles titles in tennis and led the Curley baseball team in home runs as a senior. Not surprisingly, he was the winner of the 1995 Fr. Julian Athlete of the Year, an award given annually to Curley's top athlete. In 2019, he was inducted into the Archbishop Curley Athletic Hall of Fame.
After Curley, he was a four-year starter on the men's soccer team at Mount St. Mary's University.
Loftus returned to Curley eight years ago and has served on the faculty and in several administrative roles, including Alumni Director, as well as coaching the school's JV soccer team.
"My eight years back at Sinclair and Erdman have been both meaningful and rewarding,” said Loftus. “While I will miss my daily interactions with the advancement staff and the relationships I have built with our alumni, I’m excited about the opportunity to support them in a new capacity and to continue building strong relationships within our athletic community. GO FRIARS!”
"I look forward to working with Greg in his new role," said Curley Principal Jeremy Joseph, a 1996 graduate of the school. "He is committed to the school's mission and has served the school in a variety of capacities. He represented the school well as a student-athlete and later as a coach. He will bring that same approach to his duties as Athletic Director."
Loftus succeeds Justin Gordon who is departing to take similar role at St. Timothy's School.
