McDonogh reigns again in MIAA A swimming
The Eagles prevail at 2025 conference championships after a one year absence; McDonogh has won six of the last seven titles
After seeing Loyola Blakefield halt its streak of titles at the MIAA A Conference Swimming Championships at five, last year, McDonogh soared back to championship status, Saturday, scoring 460 points to regain its crown at Loyola University’s Mangione Aquatics Center.
Gilman was the only other team with more than 400 points, as the Greyhounds placed second with 404, while Loyola was third with 290.
McDonogh won three individual titles, led by Langston Duncan. Duncan won the 100 Yard Fly (29.34) and the 100 Yard Back (51.12), while swimming a leg on the Eagles winning 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:34.79). Joining on the relay were Jack Mislow, Justin Shi and Mark Cherches.
Gilman, which won the regular season meet against McDonogh, 105-65, had the most individual titles on Saturday, with six. McDonogh prevailed by also claiming two second place finishes, three third place finishes and four fourth place finishes.
Max Kunisaki and Jackson Heether led the Greyhounds. Kunisaki won the 200 Free (1:40.40), while Heether won the 50 Free (20.64) and 100 Free (46.26). Both swam on Gilman’s winning 200 Yard Free Relay (1:24.30) and 400 Yard Free Relay (3:07.21).
Myles Koff, who was also on the 400 Yard Free Relay, along with Kyan Siri, won the 100 Yard IM (1:49.50). The other two Greyhounds who were part of the 200 Yard Free victory were Bogdan Mytsak and Cooper Walters.
Also winning individual titles were Loyola Blakefield’s Spencer Bellboy, in the 100 Yard Breast (4:33.13), and Archbishop Spalding’s Billy Connor, in the 100 Yard Breast (56.74).
