Calvert Hall and Boys' Latin win 2025 MIAA golf championships
Cardinals win their second A Conference title in the last three years; BL makes it three straight in the B Conference

After separating themselves from the field in their respective conference during the regular season, Calvert Hall and Boys’ Latin left no doubt Saturday afternoon, winning team crowns at the majestic Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills.
Calvert Hall won the A Conference with a 16.5-4.5 decision over Archbishop Spalding while Boys’ Latin continued its reign in the B with a 13-8 win over Severn.
The Cardinals (16-1 overall), who lost to St. Paul’s in last year’s final, got wins from James Jean-Baptiste, Landon O’Hara, Ryan Hoffner Brooks Manning, and Clayton Wright Saturday to win their second title in three seasons.
“We had a great regular season, but in this format, it’s one and done…you got to play great in both playoff matches,” said Calvert Hall coach Drew Forrester. “We got off to a great start.”
The Cardinals’ top group of No. 1 Manning and No. 2 Enzo Pobletts captured five points. The second pairing of No. 3 Hoffner (3 points) and No. 4 Jean-Baptiste (2 points) produced six points, including a team point.
The final grouping of No. 5 Wright (2 points) and No. 6 O’Hara (2.5) won their respective matches, gaining another team point in addition to the 4.5 combined match points.
No. 2 Timmy Lockett had the only victory for Spalding, which overwhelmed Mount St. Joseph in the semifinals Wednesday. Calvert Hall swept the Cavaliers (8-6) during the regular season.
The Cardinals’ only blemish came against McDonogh in the final regular season match.
Forrester told his team the loss was “a blessing.”
“Winning those first 11 and the prospect of going 12-0, I think it bogged us down a little…it had never been done before and got a little tense,” said Forrester. “I told the guys you’re way closer to winning the championship now than you were three hours ago because you got that (perfect season) out of the way.”
“We wanted the undefeated season,” said Wright, a senior. “Once we lost, it was on to the championship.”
It was another successful title effort for Boys’ Latin (12-1), which claimed a fourth consecutive B title. Lucas Erdman, Charlie Miller, Harrison Roberts and Harris Rubenstein won matches.
“We came in confident today, but we knew Severn was our biggest competition. We prepped, we went through the course,” said Lakers’ first-year coach Garrett Glaser. “Ultimately, we need to hit greens and fairways and make two putts, make less mistakes and convert opportunities.”
The second pairing of Erdman and Miller were solid Saturday, picking up 5.5 points plus a team point. Casey Boyd and Charlie Miller won their respective matches for Severn (7-6), which Boys’ Latin swept during the regular season.
The Lakers became the first team to “four-peat” since Curley ruled the B from 1996 to 1999.
Matt Overholt, who will play for Alvernia University in the fall, was only senior playing Saturday.
“Our 3 and 4 is just as good as our 1 and 2,” said Overholt. “We got two freshmen outside the top six, we got a couple of sophomores that are starting to scratch the surface of what they could be…having that deep of a roster is something special.”
